If you’ve thought about starting a fashion blog and then got too scared, you’re not alone! Maybe you’re worried people will judge you. Or you’re too overwhelmed with the whole process of creating one. Believe me, I’ve been there! While it’s hard work, having a fashion blog is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
If you’re ready to start a fashion blog, this e-book will walk you through the exact steps on how to start a fashion blog on a budget and make money. You can bookmark the page and come back to it after reading this blog post.
While I could go on-and-on with the different reasons to start a fashion blog, here’s the top 7 reasons to start a fashion blog ASAP.
1. To reach more, new people
I hear the question a lot ‘Are fashion blogs still relevant?’ The answer is YES! While social media is a really great tool for fashion bloggers, blogging can open so many additional avenues and opportunities for you to succeed.
For instance, using the proper search engine optimization strategies (SEO) on your blog can help more people find you that wouldn’t have come across your page otherwise. I’ve had tons of people follow me on Instagram, buy my eBook and fashion items because they’ve found me on Google! Search engine optimization is a key strategy to use when creating a fashion blog because so many fashion bloggers are not implementing it correctly (or at all).
2. Generate an income
One of the main reasons why people are interested in starting a fashion blog is so they can make money. While a fashion bloggers salary varies so significantly, blogging can 100% be a source for full-time income! In fact, some fashion bloggers are making six or seven figure salaries.
I blog on the side of my full-time job and make over $5,500 monthly. Blogging has the potential to make you crazy amounts of money! You can learn here how I make over $5,000 blogging monthly here.
3. Get accepted into affiliate programs like Rewardstyle
Many affiliate programs for bloggers want you to have a blog so that they know you’re taking it seriously. If you follow any fashion bloggers, you’ve probably seen #LTKit @liketoknowit #LTKunder50 #LTKunder100 #LTKhome or some version of #LTK hashtags in their post captions. Rewardstyle (also known as Liketoknowit) is one of the largest fashion affiliate programs for bloggers.
I highly, highly recommend Rewardstyle! It’s one of my favorite affiliate platforms as a fashion blogger. Two reasons I love it is because the customer service is amazing and their platforms are so easy to use.
Rewardstyle has been an amazing source of income for me. I’ve made over $17,000 just on Rewardstyle! I go into depth on how you can get accepted to Rewardstyle quick here.
4. Improve your credibility and build your brand
Having a physical website can make you seem much more credible versus if you just have an Instagram account. The more you write, the more you become known as an expert in your field. It helps build credibility and trust in people that follow you.
Brands also love seeing that you have a website and will be much more eager to work with you if you have one! If you want to learn more about how to get sponsored posts, I have a blog on three ways you can get sponsored posts here.
5. Land your dream job
Even if you don’t have a desire to blog full-time yet, blogging can help you get your dream job. Since I work in marketing, having a blog was something I could put on my resume. It let the jobs I was applying to know that I’m driven and have a well-versed skillset. My current job and past 2 jobs told me that having a blog was one of the main reasons I got hired!
6. Boost your skill set
Since I went to school for marketing and work in marketing, blogging was easy for me right? Wrong! While I was familiar with some blogging-related topics such as SEO, blogging has taught me so much that I didn’t know before. Here’s some skills I’ve picked up along the way:
- Email marketing
- SEO best practices
- Affiliate Marketing
- Creating web graphics
- Website hosting
- Creating a fashion blog in WordPress
7. More reliable than social media
I’ve never had a stronger/ love hate relationship than I do with social media. Nothing is more annoying than doing super well on Instagram only for the algorithm to change and have your posts shown to absolutely no one. Believe me, you’re not alone! It happens to me too and I GET IT.
While we’re on the topic of Instagram, I’ve been seeing so many Instagram accounts post recently that their old accounts got deleted and have to start over with a new Instagram account. The thought of that makes me want to actually throw up. All that hard work and effort down the drain?
Not to mention that Tiktok might get banned, UGH! Everytime I get wind of something like this, I get so thankful for my blog because it’s much more reliable than social media. A large corporation doesn’t own it, I do. Unless someone sues you or the website crashes, it’s not going anywhere!
The truth about starting a fashion blog
Starting a fashion blog definitely has it’s pros and cons. If it’s something you’ve been thinking about doing, don’t let your fear take over and stop you from doing it. Will people judge you? Absolutely! But should you care? Heck no. I hope these 7 reasons to start a fashion blog inspired you!
