Anyone planning an Utah road trip anytime soon? If so, you may feel stumped on what to pack. Between the super diverse climate and endless activities you can enjoy, it can be hard to figure out what deserves a spot in your suitcase. I already shared what I wore in Utah on my Instagram, but I thought it would be helpful to put all of my Utah road trip outfits in one post!
Personally, my Utah road trip outfits consisted mostly of hiking and athleisure clothes. But, I did still wear some cute dresses for dinner and drinks, and swimsuits and coverups for time by the pool. Not only is this post loaded with things for your next Utah trip, but they’re great to add to your closet and wear on repeat all around.

Hiking Outfits
Biker Shorts and Sports Bra

Utah can get HOT, so packing the right hiking gear is essential. Keep it lowkey and relaxed with a comfy pair of biker shorts, a cute racerback sport bra, and a solid pair of hiking shoes. You also don’t want to forget sunglasses, even on cloudier days.
Matching Set

Just because you’re gonna be out in the elements doesn’t mean you can’t look cute doing it, right? Not only is this matching set super chic, it’s also just as comfy. I also recommend bringing a small waist pack for things like your sunglasses, phone, sunscreen, and even a small water bottle. It’s lightweight and holds all the essentials.
Leggings and Hoodie

While Utah is known for its hot and dry temps, it can get surprisingly chilly in the mornings and evenings. And remember, the higher the elevation is, the cooler it may feel! That said, a comfy pair of hoodie and leggings can be the perfect choice for an early morning or late afternoon hike.
Tank Top and Shorts

If you want maximum comfort and breathability but want a little more coverage than what a sports bra provides, a plain tank is the way to go. It’s still light enough to not make you overheat during a hike, but also offers enough coverage to shield from sun exposure.
Tank Top and Joggers

This is a great outfit for those awkward in-between temps if you plan on hiking for a while. The joggers are perfect for a little extra warmth in the morning, but they won’t feel too heavy when it starts to warm up. And, there’s nothing better than this backpack with an attachable hydration pack. Just remember to pack light so you don’t feel dragged down from extra weight.
Biker Shorts and Workout Tank

Plan to extend your hike through that hot mid-day sun? I highly recommend wearing something light and supportive. The workout tank is made with lightweight and moisture-wicking fabric, and the shorts are stretchy and sweat-wicking. Basically, you won’t feel like you have to pull and adjust your clothes a million times throughout your hike.
Biker Shorts and Workout Tank

Here’s another perfect go-to hiking look for all those warmer Utah days. These shorts are a little bit longer (perfect for avoiding chafing), and they’re super comfy and stretchy. The tank, with its adjustable straps and buttery soft texture, is both functional and flattering.
Tank Top and Biker Shorts

Seeing a pattern here? Seriously, a tank top and shorts is the hiking outfit when you’re packing your Utah road trip outfits. This tank is super lightweight and breathable, and you can always slip it off and hike around in your sports bra if you start to get too hot.
Athletic Shorts and Tank Top

A little switch-up from the biker shorts, these mesh shorts are perfect for hiking, exploring, and even wading through water, lol. Pair it with a lightweight tank and your hydro pack backpack and you’re golden!
Biker Shorts, Tank Top, and Hoodie

Walking in the morning or evening but want something easy to slip off during the day? No big deal, just switch out a hoodie for a tank and zip-up jacket! It’s fashionable and functional. Just tie the jacket around your waist when you’re not using it.
Long-Sleeve and Athletic Shorts

This was another one of my favorite outfits for those iffy in-between temps; especially if you’re not going on too long of a hike! The long-sleeve is breathable and comfy, making it ideal even if you are in the sun and start to warm up a little bit.
Athletic Shorts and Tank Top

This outfit is honestly extremely versatile. While it is perfect for a hot Utah hike, it’s also great for strolling around town or running out for lunch. It hits that perfect balance between not too casual or dressed up.
Swimsuits and Coverups
High-Cut Ribbed Bikini

When you’re not spending time by a pool, Utah has tons of hidden gems like this. The bikini I’m wearing has since sold out, but you can shop a similar style in the link above!
Colorblock Bikini

I’m obsessed with colorblock bikinis. Not only are they trendy and refined, but they’re always super flattering. It’s a fun way to add a subtle but eye-catching detail to a poolside look.
Three-Piece Bikini Set

A bikini that comes with a matching cover-up? Sign me up. Even though the bikini I wore in the picture is sold out, I linked a similar style that comes with a super pretty floral skirt. Sets like this one are great for lounging and strolling.
Tie-Front Bikini

There’s no better time to pull out your bright yellow bikini than when you’re under that hot Utah sun. Plus, the front-tie on the top adds a chic, eye-catching detail! It’s definitely a bikini I wear on repeat.
Crochet-Style Cover-Up

A cute cover-up is a must-have. It’s sooo nice to be able to toss something on, run up to your room to grab lunch or a snack, head to the bar for a fun drink, and slip it right off when it’s time to lounge around again. This is one of those pieces you can’t forget to add to your Utah road trip outfits list.
V-Neck Coverup

If nobody’s told you this yet: you’re allowed to have just as much fun with your coverups as you do with the rest of your looks! The coverup I wore in the picture has since sold out, but the crochet coverup I linked above is just as cute and fun.
Dresses and Skirts
Strapless Wrap Dress
This strapless wrap dress isn’t just extremely chic and flattering, it’s also breathable and lightweight. Which, given how warm it is in Utah, is a necessity. It’s the perfect outfit to wear for a nice dinner or lunch.
Floral Off-the-Shoulder Dress

If you’ve already seen my Ultimate Utah and Colorado Road Trip post, then you know I wore this to the Castle Creek Winery! I love a little off-the-shoulder moment, and this dress was everything I wanted and more.
T-Shirt Dress and Flip-Flops

The great thing about T-shirt dresses is their ability to look effortlessly chic. You can seriously just toss them on with a cute pair of sandals or flip-flops and be good to head out the door! This outfit was perfect for walking around the town and browsing through shops.
Smocked Layered Dress and Sandals

Two things that naturally go great together? A white flowy dress and a fresh tan. This dress is perfect for a lightweight, feminine look that feels effortlessly refined.
T-Shirt Dress and Sneakers

There’s something about a T-shirt dress and a pair of white sneakers that I just can’t get enough of. Even though it’s a more relaxed look, it still feels cute and put-together.
Halter-Top Romper

If you plan on doing something more formal but you don’t want to feel too overdressed, this floral romper is exactly what you need. It definitely feels nice and dressy, but it doesn’t feel like you’re overdoing it.

I wore this dress to the Bryce Canyon Country Rodeo and I feel like it fits the vibe perfectly. Even if that’s not on your itinerary, the outfit needs to make its way into your Utah road trip outfits. And, even though the original style has since sold out, I linked to a similar style that’s just as flattering.
Sarong and Sandals

You would’ve never known this was a sarong, would you? (Until you went to add it to your cart, lol.) The beauty of what you can find on Amazon! It’s summery, bright, flowy—it’s a great piece to add into your list of must-have Utah road trip outfits.
Skirt and Bodysuit

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I love pairing a bodysuit with a skirt. It’s so easy to throw-on-and-go, but it looks super chic and refined. This look is great for strolling the city, catching dinner, or even lounging poolside with a drink.
Loungewear and Matching Sets
Graphic Tee and Biker Shorts

As much as I love putting together fun and dressier looks, a graphic tee and biker shorts will do it for me every time. It’s comfy, easy to put together, and works for everything from lounging around to heading out for a casual adventure.
Ribbed Romper and Sandals

Rompers are super versatile, making them great for anything and everything. This one in particular is super soft, lightweight, and breathable, so it’s perfect for any of your fun Utah adventures.
Matching Waffle Knit Set

Remember earlier when I said that you can still look cute even if you’re hiking? The same goes for loungewear and pajamas. This waffle knit set is easily one of my favorites. It’s seriously as cozy as it is cute.

Wanna know one of my favorite style secrets? Matching lounge/pajama sets can easily be doubled as a cute laid-back look. You honestly wouldn’t even know that these are designed to be pajamas! They’re perfect for running a few errands or grabbing a quick cup of coffee.
I feel like when you wake up in nice pair of matching pajamas, you’re already setting your day up for success. It just makes sense, right? And not only is this matching set super cute, they’re really soft and comfortable. The set I’m wearing in the photo has sold out, but shop the other link above for a similar style!
Biker Shorts and Graphic Tee

Ending my Utah road trip outfits off on a classic: biker shorts, a graphic tee, and a comfy pair of sandals. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: this combo works for everything. It’s a classic for a reason!
Utah Packing Tips
Hyrdropack
This hydropack was a seriously a lifesaver. Being in a very dry and hot climate, it was super necessary to make sure we were hydrated the whole time. With this $45 hydration backpack (on prime!) you can avoid carrying water bottles during your hikes.
Baseball Hat
Also, to combat the super strong sun, a baseball hat was a total must have! Not only is the one I brought with me super cute, it was so important for sun protection. Being in the desert comes with high temperatures and UV index, making extra coverage important for safety.
Waist Pack
If you are not looking to carry a full backpack, having a waist pack was great to have instead. Perfect to fit your phone, sunscreen, wallet and a snack for a quick hike or just a walk around town. The one I brought with me has since sold out, but this style is nearly identical. It’s super useful and still stylish!
Waterproof Dry Bag
This waterproof dry bag for my phone was great to have too. While hiking the Narrows at Zion National Park, there is a portion where you walk through water. Having that extra protection for your phone is great, especially because you will want to take pictures of everything!
Rain Jacket
Honestly, Utah is all-around pretty dry during the summer. But, when there is a storm, it tends to pop up out of nowhere with no warning. My advice? Pack rain jackets just in case. This one has a waterproof exterior, mesh lining, and an attached hood. You may feel hesitant because of an extra layer, but the jacket itself is super lightweight and breathable. My mindset is always it’s better to have it and not need it than vice versa!
This Utah road trip + packing list will have you prepared for whatever adventures your trip may bring!
Whether your itinerary is challenging tedious hikes or lazy days lounging by the pool, this guide makes sure you’re packed and prepared for it all. And the best part? Every product is budget-friendly and super versatile. You can get plenty of use out of each item listed, whether at home or on a next future getaway!
